Freon Dilemma!!!!
I was watching an old rerun of "TRUCKS" the other days and Stacey made a comment about a product called DURA-COOL (HC-12a) for replacement for R12 freon. Is this material safe to use and does it work? I have R12 in a 79 F-150 supercab and need to repair a leak in the compressor before recharging with R12 ( 2 cans left) or try this product mentioned. Or in you'll opinion, go ahead and convert to R-134a. Please advise!

The substitute will be a flammable gas (propane, butane mix or the like). There is a debate as to the safety of these subsititues in automotive applications. Myself, I'd simply convert to R134.
