When I turn the key on in my truck the WTS light comes on but I'm not hearing the glow plugs cycle. I have read some posts and it sounds like I should be hearing the plugs cycle is that right? I don't hear any clicking or anything.
You should hear the relay click both on and off unless your hearing is getting like mine.
I have a hard time hearing mine over the crickets.
Do your interior lights dim when you turn the key on and then get brighter when the "Wait to Start" light goes off?
Also if you have a volt meter in your dash, you should see it dip when they turn on and rise when they turn off.
Is the engine starting easy?
Well I'll have to check on the light and I'll check the gauge also tonight. It is a little hard to start but I think I may have an air intrusion problem. It takes a good 15 Seconds cold to start and probably 10 warm.
Can you have someone else turn the key on while you listen outside with the hood up?
The relay on an 88 is at the rear center of the intake manifold under a black plastic cover about 3" x 5".
Should be much easier to hear out there with the hood up.
