steering column swap problems

John...i need yer help again. I got my steering cloumn from a 74 F-100 ranger. It has the hazard switch located on the column. The 66's switch is on the dash. The 74 has a wiring harness and the 66 doesnt. None of the wires line up!!! How do i go about finding out what wires to splice with what wires?!?! Also my firewall seal doesnt line up right, although I am not too concerned with that. I want to keep the switch for the hazards on the dash because it looks so cool...any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

steering column swap problems

Chris, I cut and bypassed the column switch. Blue yellow is horn, 66 power is blue, yours should be red black. The other four are the four corners of flash and maybe blue red for the column lamp. You can scratch and figure from there. :-)

Chris, Couple of thoughts on this! Install an earlier TS switch without the 4 way on the column. Your original TS switch should fit. Or, since the column 4 way is a small unobtrusive switch and you already own it (New they cost around 50 bucks), just abandon the original 4 way leaving the **** and light in place on the dash. Save the 66 4 way harness by the way, they are really hard to come by. Then follow Johns advice in reverse and make a color coded wiring harness diagram for the rest of us. Eventually the old TS and 4 way switches will wear out anyway and up grading to later model switches is always good idea. Did you use the 66 steering wheel?

steering column swap problems

The steering wheel is from a 60's or early 70's model mustang. The main reason i swapped the steering columns was to get rid of the boat rudder..lol. IF you know of anybody who needs the original steering wheel, let me know,i have the 66 three on the tree column, and the steering wheel with a real leather cover(sombody told me it is probably original..but i dunno). The steering wheel has a few cracks and the horn button is missing. Thanks for the help all and i will make the harness and let yall know what comes of it.
