after Ernesto

I just did an assessment of the storm damage, and was lucky.
I had a small leak in the roof. less than 1/2 gallon of water came in,
and there is only 1 water stain in the sheetrock of the kitchen ceiling,
the size of a 50 cent piece, and it is in a spot that is normally in shadows,
so it is not even noticeable unless you know where to look.

Power was out for 9 1/2 hours, but since i did not open up the fridge or freezer,
everything inside them is still good.

Outside, i only had 1 piece of flashing come loose on the water side of the garage,
and it did not even blow away, so that just needs to be nailed back in place.

No tree limbs fell, no other damage.

But there is allot of tree leaves and twigs all over the place.
2-3 inches deep in some places.
So it looks like there is gonna be a few days of cleanup needed.

All in all i faired allot better than others in town.
at least 15 trees down on houses, 10 trees down on cars,
and 3 trees on wires on houses that started fires that i heard about.

I had both trucks and the crown vic out doing traffic control for 8 1/2 hours.
And the diesel did 4 high water rescues of idiots that tried to drive
over flooded sections of roads.

BTW, total rainfall here was a little over 5 inches in 30 hours.

No damage at my estate. Lots of twigs and small stuff in the yard. Lots of leaves got beaten off the trees.

Power was off for about 18 hours. Lit my generator to run the freezer and fridge, and would you believe, 15 minutes later, the power came back on.

I salute the power company linemen, they were busting their butts. Some folks in the area are still without power.

I feel bad for anybody that got any damage from the storm. Living in Fl. I know what it's like. I imagine having to live with them makes me prepared for it most of the time. I have my house wired with a plug in for my generator so all I have to do is flip off the main breaker, plug it in and I'm back up and running. I also have my plywood cut and ready for the big ones.

well, in 10 years living 300 ft from the water, this is the first damage i have gotten, and the first time the power was out for more than 15 minutes. and the funny part about it was, this was the calmest storm so far. it just hit at the rite direction to do maximum damage.

Around the house everything was alright lots of leaves about it,shop sprung a small leak in the roof no biggie but at the marina my boat didn't fair so well sometime friday the bilge pump crapped out and I found my boat leaning hard to starboard and I was afraid to get on it fearing it would sink, after trying to get ahold of my buddy that has a small pump but no luck I climbed on and had water almost to my knees but she stayed afloat. It took me and my wife almost two hours to bail it out with a small bucket.I spent sat afternoon installing a new pump now I need to get the battery charged back up and see if everything else works. As of last night there where still almost 2500 people with out power around here.
