rear seat problems

What are some good alternatives to the original bronco rear seat? The kids and I have a 40 mile commute, and they are tired of aching butts. Anybody have any thing different?

Yep, that hard bottom only has a 3/4" board and the foam for butt suspension. Worse yet being 30+ years old.

I'm using a fold and tumble style seat from a mid 80 CJ jeep. It has alot more seat suspension and it fold out of the way so you can use what little cargo space the Bronco already has. Check your local junk yard, I think other year CJs use the same seat.

Oh one more thing, get the seat belts too. Good luck

How does it latch when its being used? I used to have a cj, and it seemed like it had side latches or something. Jay

Check out the Bronco parts suppliers like Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, Tom's Bronco Parts, Wild Horses, or James Duff. They have some aftermarket options for you.

I have one of the fold and tumble seats that the Bronco suppliers are selling. It is very comfortable and has a rear center latch. The only downfall with that is having the latch loop sticking out in the middle of the floor when the seat is folded, which is no big deal.

I believe that the seat is made as a replacement for a Jeep YJ or TJ. Mine was made by Steel Horse which has been bought out by someone else.

I will get some pictures tomorrow if you would like.

I haven't forgot about the pictures. I have been super busy this past week with work and getting ready for a long needed vacation with my family. Will be posting some tomorrow after I clean out the Bronco so I can put the seat back down.

you could do what i did and cut the inner fenders out and bolt down a fullsize rear seat!

OR you could put in 2 seperate racing style seats --- i'm thinking of doing this except with only one (dont have kids, yet!)

Hey fishman, I noticed you say you are running a twin stick d-20. Are you happy with that setup? I have the j-shift in my 73, and its a pain sometimes to get locked in.

i'm embarressed to say but i havent yet gotten to run it! i have been buildin this early bronco for some east coast rock crawling and cash flow is a big issue!

i will tell you in my last truck (1985 F250 with 460 and 39" irok's) i had the t-case twinsticked and i LOVED it. i set the rear line lock and i could do front digs all day long. who needs rear steer when i can swing the front end around

did you just cut the linkage b/t the shift rails?
