feeling sloppy
Anyway, I had the wife rock the steering wheel back and forth while I checked the linkage below. I noticed that the steering rack moves at least 1/2" in both directions before the wheels do at the tie rod /wheel joint.
I replaced both outer tierod ends ay $28 each. They were in bad shape. The bolt pieces were loose and spinning around in the sockets. I counted the turns when I removed the old parts so the alignment was not affected. I had it chcked anyway.
My point is; if you haven't replaced yours by now, you probably should. My '93 only has 100K on it.
when they go, it's a feeling of total loss of control.....rig heads for ditch, tree or another rig headon
was not doing maint on wife's car 15 yrs ago.....local auto shop did all maint and safety inspections.... driver side outer tie rod joint came apart on her pulling out of work parking lot.....no damage......5 minutes later she would have been on freeway at 70 mph
