rear axle code
Looked at a 78 F150 2wd for sale. Had an axle code of 11A. I found that A is for p/s with tilt column. Any information on what 11 is. The only thing that I found is 11 is for a 2.75 axle, but what model? Has a Dana 44 which appears to be original, but I have never seen anything but a 9" in a 73-79.

are you sure it isn't 14 and not 11 ?
Where did you get the 11 code saying it's a 2.75 from as I don't have anything for 78 or 79 with 11 as an axle code ?

In 78 they already had codes 06 & 13 as a 2.75 ratio
In 73 74, there was a code 11 for the 3.50
and in 75 code 11 was the 4.11.
What are the last 6 digits of the Vin #.

I found it on a google search. Shows up as a 77 model year 2.75 in a 3300 lb axle. Not sure if it is accurate or not, figured it could carry over into later model years since I found nothing for 78. I found earlier models showed 11 with the same info you give.
I read the data plate twice to verify the number. I'll see if it is still for sale to get a VIN. Just had me scratching my head as I have never seen a 44 beyond 72 model.
