i was drivin around tow and got maybe 200 miles to my front rank and i just think that is a lil low, is it because of the aftermarket turbo and exhaust , what kinda milage are you guys gettin ?????
I'm getting 15-16 mpg around town with a n/a 7.3 in front of a rebuilt 4 speed auto and 3.56[?] rear end. I know I've got some unsolved issues...timing or IP worn out or fuel leakage or something. Also, I can only get about 15 gals out of each tank...probably broken fuel pick-ups... time and money are a challenge right now and it does get me back and forth until one and/or the other becomes available.
I am only getting about 300 miles from 2 tanks or 10mpg combined (check signature for truck info) and chasing down possible causes like driving habits, IP etc.
Lartross, when you say you are getting 15 gal out of each tank, are you running out of diesel at that point and stalling? I can only fill 30 gals when both tanks read empty and then some but the truck doesn't die on me. I've read other post that the fuel gauges are pretty conservative, not very accurate and designed to leave about 3-4 gallons in the tank to prevent air from getting into the system especially when the fuel goes sloshing around.
I have run each tank to empty...where the gauge is just under 1/4 tank. Now, I only run them to 1/4 and switch over. That usually works out to 15 gal on the front and 10 gal on the back, but, like you said, the guages suck. Ya' haf'ta run the starter so much when it runs empty...I've no desire to burn it out.
