Hello everyone. I have a 460 and a flathead that I need to store in my garage for at least 2 years. All the internals are out of them, just a bare block. How can I store them for an extended period of time without having them rust? Any ideas would be great. Thanks!
Hi psulik1,
What ever you do don't use WD40 on aneything you don't want to rust, it is a water base. You might try the local militarey surplus place and see if they have cosmolean it is the best for long tearm storage I don't know if the CPC that airharley mentoned is the same. Cosmolean is what they perserve guns with for long tearm storage. I have cleand up stuf that had ben in storage since WW1 and still in perfect conditon.

Cosmolean and CPC are the same. CPC stands for Corrosion Prevention Compound.
Yes I know what CPC stands for there are several out there. I have used CPCs that varey from a light wax to stuf hevier than Cosmolean. I would call around and see if aney of the surplus stores have Cosmolean as it is one of most comon and usualey cheap.
