Back in May or so, I made some changes to my system, primarily, adding a 4ch amp for the door speakers and moving both amps to the space behind the rear seats, beside the subs. Everything seemed fine until August, when I have no sound; head unit appears to be working as usual but no sound and a blown fuse on power distrubutor.
I think: 'it's been really hot out and that fuse was underrated so maybe I'll put in a bigger fuse... POP'. Upon initial diagnosis and poking around it appears that it may be an internal short in the 4 ch amp, so I pull it. Still nothing and another blown fuse. So I disconnect power to the other amp and throw in another fuse... POP.
I've already checked the power cables where they are accessable and didn't see anything so I start pulling out the rear seats. What do I find? one of the power cables was pinched under the seat bracket, between the carpet and foam sound deadening . Funny it took 3 months for it to work through the insulation and cause a short.
Be glad you used a fuse. Some people say you dont really nead a fuse if you wire correctly, **** happens like that. Had you not been fused you would no longer have a vehicle.
