Fram Boost air intake...

Seems like a nice system; dry, reusable filter and decent price ($209.00). Has anybody tried this system? Got a review? I'm very familiar with K&N products, so no need for testimonials or flame wars in that regard.

I cant imagine that Fram would have a better design than some of the other companies out there.

MAC has a great intake as well, for a good price, as well as S&B and Volant. the S&B is in about the same price range, and S&B does a lot of R&D on their stuff.

Check this link out for some good choices.

Also, i think AEM has a new brute force intake out for your truck, that we havent added to the site yet, but it is very promising!

Great, even more choices! I've pretty much decided on a dry filter system. I'd like to hear which of those people opted for, and why.

If youre looking for a dry element, i would recommend the AEM Brute force system. Its new to the market and they have a GREAT reputation for cranking out killer intakes.

Your other option would be to get any system you like, and use the new AMSOIL universal Donalson style dry element filters, but by the time you did that, it would cost as much as the AEM system anyway.

To be honest, most of my customers go for the MAC system because of its value. Ive yet to have anyone complain of the quality

Volant and S&B are the only systems that have a box around their filter, to get truly cool air and help cut back on the annoying resonant intake noises.

AEM gets props for their dry-flow filter element.

Each intake has its own reason, you just have to decide which is most important to you and go for it!

Hey Joelski,

We have some useful customer reviews for the AEM Brute Force up on our product page, pretty much same price as the Fram intake you mentioned. They fit your make model and year and the coupon code, FTEDEAL, will give you 20 bucks off the intake when added to our cart... it's our FTE member discount for forum members only.

AEM Brute Force, the goods...:

As I recall the dyno curves they posted, it actually produces less horsepower than stock below 3500 rpm, and only slightly more above 3500 rpm. Seems like a waste of $200 to me...

Everytime I hear the ad on TV "vroom" I think of what fools people are. My second car was a 1939 Ford V8 with an oil bath air cleaner. The engine was quite and peppy,
man take that air cleaner off and it sounded like it gained all kinds of power, in reality
not much. It may sound like it is doing something, in fact as the previous poster stated not much except parting someone of his hard earned cash.

If you don't want an intake, don't buy it. I've been using after market intakes for a while now, and I'm greesed pleased, a long with my headers, bama, exhaust and so on, if you would rather spend your money for beer, or lottery tickets, no sweat here. People buy intakes, and such because they are into vehicles, it's a hobby you might say. Some intakes do very little by them selfs, some do a lot, it depends on application, and how restrictive the factory air box is. The ranger's stock system is decent, but the one on my focus st sucks, both have an intake now, and the focus benifited the most. My ranger with the intake, headers, exhaust, and bama runs awesome, so to each his own.

I thought about getting the intake from Walter, I've heard nothing but good things about it, but in the end, I ended up going with AEM, I love that new no oil fiter. I wanted the cosworth, but I just couldn't justify the price, I diffenatly want the cossy intake manifold, but there is an issue with the 06 power steering resivor, waiting for cossy to offer a fix. Walter is talking about making an intake mannie as well, but at last, it won't say cosworth on it hee hee.

Taken that old air box out is a job, it could make a preacher curse. You might as well put an intake on an 06, cause the replacement unit is 300.00$ I hear, you sure won't save any money by leaving it stock.
