1316 injector code 01 7.3L
Bummer, just leaving for L.D.w.e. Truck stumbles, surges, check eng. light on solid . DTC's were 1249 and 1316. My buddy thinks ford will cover the injectors due to many problems with these years? Truck has 28000 miles. Has anyone heard of similar problems.

you need to check the valve cover wiring. remove the valve cover gasket plug there will be 2 larger pins on the ends of the plug, these are for the glow plugs and NOT the ones you test. there are 5 smaller ones inbetween the glow plug pins these are the injector pins. the center one is the ground and the 2 on either side are the injector leads. you need to test resistance between the ground and the 4 injector leads, when you find one that reads nothing, remove that valve cover and check the plug and the wiring harness under that valve cover.
i just went through this last week and to turned out to be a plug that came unplugged
ps. the warranty on you engine is 5 year/100,000 so if the 5 years is up you are on your own. i have never heard of 2001 7.3's having injector problems.

thanks for the info. I actually took it to the ford dealer on sat. morning, Apparently the root of the problem was the clips that hold the wiring harness to the connectors on the valve covers have a tendancy to work over and allow the wiring harness to drop away. The Mech. replaced the clips themselves along with a turbo clamp that was suspect. Wasnt too happy with the 450 dollar bill.
