Good one, Mil1ion....I usually just use a regular calc, but forgot to check my mileage when i fueled today.......Just checked it in the new calc page, and it's 17.5mpg (315 miles and just a whisker under 18 gallons).......Keep in mind, this is mostly commuter driving with good amount of city driving.........not bad for a 2000 4X4 crew psd with 63000 on the OD........I'll take it.....
Have a lookie at the units in your math as you've presented them. The first one results in miles/gallon, or miles per gallon and the second one is (result should read) gallons/mile, or gallons per mile, not miles/gallon.
If backroad driving means off-road and town driving means real short trips, under two miles, then 6.25 mpg is not unreasonable. Otherwise, it needs some work. Late 1970's were a nightmare of vacuum hoses, sensors, etc. If the vacuum spark advance is not working because of a bad sensor or leaking hose, that will kill mileage big time.
