Post Need an opinion

Hey all. I happened upon an '89 F250 Lariat XLT yesterday - it's got the big (7.5L) engine, it's 4x4 and looks to be in pretty good shape from what I can tell (digital photo). The guy is asking $5k for it, any thoughts? Any '89 F250 owners out there who can give me your opinion about the truck overall? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to FTE!

Sound like it might be an o.k. deal. Find out the miles on it and if he has any maintanence records. A contractor I used to work had one and that poor truck had a rough life, but always came back for more. They are pretty tough and can go many miles. When you go look at be sure to take some time and crawl around under it and check things out, looking for big leaks, rust, etc. I think that year still had the independent front axle, so take a close look at the front end, see if the tires are leaning or if they have excessive wear on either the inside or outside. Drive it and see how you like it then make an offer, it can't hurt to offer low and let him counter, the worst is that he will just say no. Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it. Just realized I forgot to include the mileage - 79k on the original engine - that was the part that caught my eye to be honest. I will take your advice and hope for the best. Thanks again!

WOW! That is low miles for an almost 14 year old truck. Go for it!
Let us know how it turns out...
