Hello all! Ive got a 4 X4 98 5.4L F150 w/Gibson Sideswept exhaust and K&N set up. I am looking to upgrade my headers to a set of jba-1679S and figure that they should fit without modifications. Im not sure if i should go with the ceramic coated or the stainless set. It is my understanding that the stainless set runs hotter than the ceramic and was wondering if there is much of a difference in them besides the cost? I figure that I will get some fuel economy as well as HP increase and figure that whether ceramic or plain stainless the numbers would be the same. Looking forward reading any opinions. Thanks in advance.

Reason: needed to delete some strange stuff when copied from another one of my posts.
I'm not rich by any financial means but to me the cost is worth paying due to the length of time that I will be keeping the truck. I also consider the warranty given Thanks for your input!
JBA is good set of headers. SS will rust if they use a significant about iron, JBA I think is a 304ss, but even 409ss will last as long as the truck. Ceramic coatings are not intended to extend the life of headers (even though it does help cheap headers), it keeps heat from transfering to the outside of the pipe and radiating into the engine bay. Is it worth it, I would pay upto $250 for it. However I like a stainless base ceramic, jethot and most others are aluminum based.
PS, there is something about the ceramic coating holding in heat and accelerating the exhaust gasses. I guess when the thermal energy stays with the gasses it keeps it's speed, when the heat is released the gasses slow down.
I had a coater near us that used a stainless base that said it was indestructable and that the military had him work on parts for the F117. He was a little out there.
I have sold alot of jethoted parts and the only time have heard of it chipping was a dirt track racer wrecked. In the process the headers bent and the coating pulled away. It shouldn't just chip or fall off.
Well, I scraped my pennies together and am waiting on my jba's to come in After they are installed I'll let y'all know what the verdict is. I know they will be great!
I finaly received and had the headers installed by my mechanic due to not having the right tools and needing other engine components worked on. I noticed an instant increase in HP/Throttle response and am majorly impressed!!! I wish that I could and would have installed them sooner! I,m still breaking them in but would definately recommend this set of headers to anyone looking for an additional performance addition to their vehicle! I haven't had them long enough to see any fuel consumption savings but I know that I will due to not having a lead foot unless I have to maneuver to avoid an incident. This is an A+++++++ purchase!!!
I had HPC strip and recoat a new set of headers (coated inside and out) by Jethot. They messed up two times hence having them done correctly by HPC.
Not cheap to coat but header replacement isn't either with Doug Thorley headers. 20+ years average use so do 'em once right.
