I want to make a good tow rig out of my 78 f250. It is a 2wd 3.73 Granny 4spd(np 435) RC long bed. It has dual pistion front calipers. A rear dana 60 HD 460 coils in the front. I have a rear spring setup with 16 springs on EACH side plus a overload.. Onboard air, It has Durango 315/70R16 D tires in the back and 235/ 85 R16 E tires on the front. What about 4.56 gears? The 6cyl stays OK.
I'm looking for any upgrades you'd recommend?
Shocks? Sway bars F/R, front air bags, Brake upgrades,Things to make it more stable?? Frame bracing?
PS the GAWR rear is 6,000lbs and front is 3150lbs GVW unknown.
Dustin
What do you plan on towing? It sounds to me like you have a nice setup already, besides that 6cyl With that 6cyl I recommend a lower gear, like a 4.11. With 4.56's you would'nt be able to keep up with freeway traffic.
I strongly recommend a trailer brake controller and the proper hitch also. Some west coast mirrors or simillar that stick out past your trailer will help out alot.
just about anything. I haul 500-5000lbs in the bed and haul between 2500-17,000lbs.
I'm looking at making it more "comfortable"I just want to build it so if I need a seriously capable rig I have it.
PS thanks for the comment
