low beam to high beam

low beam to high beam

i have an 87 f-150. i have the floor switch to go from low beam to high beam. just recently when i switched to low beam and the headlights turned off. i hit the switch again and the high beams came back on. then after hitting the switch a few times the low beams came on. is the switch causing this problem?

A few years ago I had a Dodge did exactly the same thing on an unlit road-scary. I replaced the foot switch and no more trouble. I now have a `87 F250 and have to say the switch, so far, is good.
