General E4OD question

I'm not even getting my 93' Bronco until saturday so I'm not looking for anything real specific at the moment, but I'd just like an idea of what I may be dealing with. The transmission only works in reverse. I don't have any experience with electronically controlled transmissions except from what I've been reading on these forums. Is it possible that this trans doesn't need a complete rebuid and is just having controller/computer problems?

Thanks,
Kurt

i find it odd that you would have reverse and not 1st. try putting the shift lever in 1st and see if it moves then. sounds like its going to have to come out. e4ods are not known for longevity and durability. if you plan on keeping this vehicle around and spending some money on it, i would suggest a jasper reman. trans.

A good E4OD will have 2nd and 4th without any electronics. If the forward clutch has failed you would not have any forward gears. So a transmission with only reverse and no forward gears just about has to have a mechanical failure.

How about an E4OD with all forward gears and no reverse? Is there any chance that this is an easy fix, or will the trans have to come out? 96 F150 2WD 4.9L Thanks

No electronics involved for reverse, so, most likely an internal problem (rev clutch?)
