great job on the tank install. how did you get a 78 tank looking so new? Also, notching the frame for the fill tube, is this normal practice? (I'm trying to figure out my frame needs, right now)
PS: I won't mention my 78 bronco for sale has a 25 gallon tank.
The tank looks new because it is. I got it from gastanks.com. It didn't look so good once the radiator guy was done, tho. It has dents all over it, for some reason.
As to notching the frame, that's just what I chose to do. I believe Tacson just cut a hole thru the frame web for the filler of his Chevy van tank.
I'm glad my friend and I weren't the only ones with this situation. I guess the tank can bolt up from underneath and bolt to the frame rails somehow. Most of the applications I've seen, the tanks slides in from the top/ down and sits in the frame rails, which would make more sense as far as stability. I'm curious to see more posts on this one. I still have my original tank behind the seat but am thinking about replacing it with a Mustang 20 Gal tank in the near future.
The No Limit is a bottom attachment but in my hurry to finally get this thing on the road I made the wires and lines a perfect fit without the bed wood.
Nothing prevents me from redoing them this winter but I really like the 3 piece plywood floor with the bedsides and tailgate coated in Line X. So in my case I think it will stay the way it is untill I realy get fed up with the floor fill. So far it's just a pain in the a$$ sometimes .
Does anyone know how I can contact the guy that wrote the Mid-60 gas tank install article? I want to know what the drop brackets were for. Is that so the fuel stays to the front of the tank by the sending unit?
That's the one. Am I missing the part where he explains the need for the drop bracket? Or is this simply to get the tank lower? It's at the end of the article when he does the 22 gal install.

dwarf...
itssmee !!
the reason for the drop brackets...
the 22 gal tank goes further back into the frame (toward the axle) and it ended where the frame rails turned up over the axle... the brackets were to support the tank level and bolt it to the frame. 22 gallons of fuel weighs about 180 +/- pounds and I wanted good support there
