I've got a 66 f250 with an auto tranny. I've been to the parts store 3 times and can not figure out which tranny I have. The door plate says C4. I've tried a C4 and a c.o.m. gasket but neither fit. This tranny has 14 bolts in the pan and the diptick tube bolts to the pan. Any help on this one??
I think I've decided that I have a FMX.. I've heard that these are kinda light duties. Does anyone have any experience with these trannies. What would it have come out of??
I had an FMX in my truck when I first bought it. I didn't think too much about it since the engine was a P.O.S. I can tell you that they are HEAVY, cast iron case.
O.K. now I am completely frustrated.. This is not a FMX.. The parts store believes it to be a small or medium case crusieomatic.. Any thoughts on these
What position do you put the selector in to take off in? Do you put it in "drive"? If so, is it a bit sluggish? Drop one more on the selector and you start better and it shifts better. By the way, what engine do you have?

I don't think an auto (C-O-M) was installed behind anything but a 352 in 65.
Seeing as i have a 66 F250 sitting outside the garage that came from the factory with a 240 Cruise O Matic and a 410 gear set I can say yes i have personally seen it.
I also parted a 66 300 six equipped F100 this spring. Stock Cruise o Matic and 3.70 gears.
Some trucks also came with a C4 but i have not yet scrounged a factory one up. The factory manuals say they were avalible behind the 240s.
