460 longblock going rate?

I've been kinda poking around looking for a decent 460 core for the past couple years. Never really had a need for one, more to just have one around "just incase".

Anyway, i came across a known condition 460. It's out of a 1979 F350 4x2. It's complete pulley to flexplate, intake to pan. It's missing exhaust manifolds, a distributor, carburetor, and one valve cover (it's stored in a DRY garage). Had about 80K when pulled.

He told me he'd only sell it as a core (which makes sense), so I'm just trying to figure out what a fair price for a core 460 is. It's also still attached to the C6, but i have a better idea of what it's worth on the market.

If it means anything, I bought a whole car for $300 if that helps. I wouldn't pay more then $300 for a core since you have a lot of other work ahead of you. Granted you know some of the history of the engine. I would still worry about the missing valve cover in storage. Moisture likes to settle in open containers and rust things.

Why not call some of the local junk yards in the area or see if aneyone around there specalizes in cors and see how much they want for a core. The C6 may be worth some on it's own.
