2004 A/C problem

The Air Conditioner shuts-off and when turned back on...it reads 75 degrees until you reset it to desired temp. Has happened twice within a month period. Would like to know if this has happened to any of you because If I can't inform my service tech of other malfunctions...I might be in for a battle of "can't duplicate the discrepancy". Truck has less than 16,000 miles.

Thanks,

Bill Peterson

Ac Problem

I got an 06 FX4 with 6K. Noticed the same problem this past weekend. Turned on AC was blowing hot air.Turned off the ac then turned on. Rotated the temp control several times, then began blowing cold. Almost seems like there must be a thermostat control thats not functioning properly. Gonna research. Hopefully will find an answer. Will let you know. If you come up with anything let me know.

Mine did it 3 times since i had it I have a 2004 4X4 SUPERCREW LARIAT with 8300 miles The first time it happened there was a clicking sound comming from the passenger side and my heated seat buttons were going on and off I was on the way to the dealer when this was taken place All of a sudden the clicking stopped and my heater came on FULL blast Got it to the service dept and left it The next day they told me NPF The 2nd time Iturned on a/c it was blowing hot air I did not here the a/c compressor kick in So off to the dealer i go Dropped it off Next day NPF 3rd time Drove home with a/c running all is fine I park in front of the house 2 hours later go out to put truck in the garage i put the key into the ingition start it up and my HAVC BOARD is going crazy No a/c and it was turning it self on This was last saturday I did not want to take it back to the dealer because it would have been NPF So after reading problems with this system on other forums I took the NEG cable off of the battery for 5 MIN Re connected and all was fine Now what do you think the dealer did when i brought it in 1st and 2nd time?Sorry for the long reply

2004 A/C Malfunction

Thanks...will try the battery cable deal. Mine is an '04 Larait Supercrew loaded...didn't have the heated seat button problem. All that it has done...both times...is shut-off. When I turn it back on...the degrees reads 75 (Florida) and of course it blows hot at that setting. I punch in 60 degrees and full fan...no more problems. I'll go to the dealer first so that it will be a part of my record and then do the battery cable but probably won't know if I have a fix because it happened only twice in two years but it did happen twice in the past month.
Thanks,
BP

Let the dealer look at it And make sure it states the problem on paper My input on my problem is If the dealer took off the NEG cable and my problem wasnt solved they would have replaced the HAVC display I hope you get your problem taken care of

A/C Problem

I'm sorry for the delay in coming back but I might have good news for some of us. I finally got into my Ford Dealer and talked straight to the A/C tech. He says that they have seen and fixed my problem on other F-150's several times. I asked why a Bulletin has not been issued and of course, I got the....I don't know look. Anyway, he ordered a Control Module P/N#19980. Got it installed on 9/14/2006...took about 30 mins...and it seems to be working just fine. But as you know...I won't know for about a month or two of driving and it's almost October....so, might not be until next year before I know if it's "Really" fixed or not. Hope you guys/gals will call your Ford Dealer and make an appointment. BTW....75 degrees is the automatic preset position on the A/C unit...and it comes on at that degrees when you restart the A/C after it shuts-down.

I had like problems with mine and it was the battery. If you have the auto AC and it shows 75 which is what shows up on a reset. If the thing blows hot air shut it off hold down off and defrost at the same time then relese both and within two seconds hit auto the blower image will spin for 20 seconds. then if you have a code mine was 1676 voltage out of range. The air would come back on cold when I turned it on. This went on for about 3 weeks. Finaly my battery showed signs of not starting. Once I replaced the battery which was 3 years old I had no more problems with my AC. This day and age of electronics a weak battery can effect all kinds of computers or electronic modules before you have starting problems.

@004 A/C problems

I'll do the battery thing if the module that Ford changed doesn't fix the problem. The Air Cond. Tech. at my dealer says this has happened a few times and he's pretty sure that we have a Fix. There is still "no Bulletin" on the subject. My truck is also still under warranty and I hope all of the minor stuff shows up before next September...?? I also had a sliding rear glass window malfunction...didn't work at all....the motor was removed and replaced and works fine.

2004 F-150 A/C problem

You may want to speak to the AC Tech @ your dealership. That's the way that I went and the guy knew exactly what I was talking about without going through other people and maybe getting a garbbled account of the discrepancy.
