Well, after listening to my torque converter rattle for several years now, I decided to get it replaced. I couldn't find the money to do one of the high performance ones, so I went with a factory one. I know, I know, just didn't have the money right now. Hope it last until I can afford to get a BTS tranny. Anyway, here's what I had done and the total cost.
1 Replace the torque converter.
2 Flush tranny and put new fluid in.
3 New seal.
4 New filter.
5 Install my Sonnax kit that I have had laying around for months.
6 Pull my turbo and install all new o-rings to fix that pesky leak.
Replace front left hub that was shot. I was thinking it was ball joints and had him check for that. He showed me the hub and it is a wonder it hadn't come completly apart. No more clunking noise from the front.
7 Check the truck over from front to back.
All parts (with the exception of the sonnax kit) and labor to install = $1280.00
I know that most of you would have done the work yourself, but my back is still not up to that task and I don't have enough tools to tackle that much at one time.
I don't know how I put up with that rattling as long as I did. Man, what a differance in the sound. I can actually hear the engine now. And anyone considering a Sonnax Kit, Do it!!. Between that and the new converter, WOW what a differance.
Sorry for being so long winded, but I think I got a good deal, Huh?
Thanks, My last trip to the back doctor cost more than the $500 labor he charge for the work. I'm still amazed at how quite the new converter is compaired to the original. Still not as quite as yours Kwik, but closer.
