POS ranger need help asap

it taps like a lifter but you can unplug a vacuum hose on the side of the intake it quits. It misses if you give it over 1/3 throttle and backfires. I put new plugs and wires. it runs decent after 3000 rpms though any help???

i found the tapping. It was the egr Valve. unpluged it and it quit tapping so i will replace it asap. but still runs like crap

well the egr valve could be creating a vac leak and making it run bad. since you know thats bad replace it and see what happens.

I always look for vac leaks with a can of starting fluid or brake cleaner spray (ether)

ok i think i found the prob., maby???? the coil pack??? i can pull up 3 of the wires and the fire jumps but the other wire doesn't jump. it does make a difference in the missing so it is firing a lil.
