[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jan-02 AT 09:31 PM (EST)]Okay thanks everybody, I hope someone can help. My brother has a 66 F-100 and wants to do a front disc brake conversion. He also wants to know what steering box will work, to check on a power steering conversion, and if it is possible to take newer parts since 66 to 90s are somewhat alike and get junkyard twin I-beam(s) and Kingpin and spindle swap. I am not exactly sure what that means....but I need some desperate help!!! I ain't a man; hence I do not know much about vehicles. so please email or post on here! Thanks a lot it means tons to me!
Hi Sara,
Welcome the FTE!
There is an extensive amount of info in the 61-66 threads regarding 65-66 disc brakes and power steering upgrades. John can be of some help in this area. Click the link below for the most recent thread.

Sara, The biggest advice is that I have about doing the swap is to BUY your donor, (we got one recently for $200.00) The purchaser was looking for a 390 to rebuild and it turns out the truck has a 410 in it.
Plan on how you want your project to end. I wanted to convert to automatic along with power steering and disc brakes, so I bought a donor that met those specks. I sold parts that i didn't need and my donor parts zeroed (became free) in cost. Change all parts from a single donor when possiable, and keep the donor until all parts are installed. The mid 70s trucks make the better donors, and some pleasent surprises can come along the way. I recently got a tilt column setup from one and soon will have it along with cruse control in my truck.
DO NOT RUSH, take your time and you will find the donor that you are looking for at the right price. Where are you located, there may be someone close by that can help. We will be pulling the I-beams, ps gear, column, and the small items on one in Durham NC tomorrow.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
John is totally correct. The frontends (I beams, brakes) are a direct bolt in swap from a 73-79. You may have to get creative mounting the brake proportioning valve and master cylinder/booster. I only say this because I am not familiar with the '66. Again, that is John's forte.
Use a late model 1973 to 1979 disc brakes, spindles and the twin I-beam if you can. it is pretty much a bolt on. I have done it twice and I love it. YOu can also use a late model power steering box off of the same year model trucks. Make sure you use a steering column from a truck that had power steering since it has to be shorter due to a taller steering box.
