Code Read: 1442
Hi,
For those that read my previous post:
I had a CEL, and now know that it is a code 1442. my mechnic told me it was an e-vap code... It's cleared now, but It will come back in a while, the previous owner told me...
I have been told it could be as simple as getting a new gas cap, etc.
could this be something very serious? Seems to run fine.
I was wondering what I can do to the engine to clean it up, etc (both internal and external) - Kind of beyond Preventitive Maintance, etc... Oil looks good, nice light brown...
What kind of Brake rotors are on these? (Same as my Aerostar? 1989, 3.0L) are they compression, or slide right off?
How do you get at the oil filter on the 4.0L? Looks like it's next to the pan, facing downward, next to the Pass side wheel for gosh sakes! -
Last question... what have any of you all done for engine/mileage performance in the 4L's? This is a 96 SportTrack 2 Dr...the 4x4 version.
do new headers help? Cold Air intake? etc etc? Is the OBDII programmable?
