HI GUYS I WANT TO REBUILT MY 1965 NP435 E BRAKE AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE DISASSEMBLING THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY. THERE ARE FOUR BOLTS THAT HAVE NUTS ON THE BACK THAT I CANT GET TO. THANKS FOR ANY HELP BRANDON
I'm thinking you have the drum on the tail of the tranny. If this is it, you will have to remove the linkage, pull off the drum and remove them from there. You may even need to use an impact if you can't get to the backside. I have one at home, I'll take a look when I get there.
krosati i took off the linkage and i took off the drum and the big nut inside the yoke and i slipped off the yoke but a cant seem to figure out how to get the shoes off. there is a plate that holds the shoes on that has four bolts in it. the bolts have nuts on the back that are spinning and i cant get anything on them to hold them. thanks for the help brandon

It's definitely hard to get to, but an open-end wrench will fit in there. Don't remember if it's 5/8 or 11/16... If not, a pry bar/screwdriver will keep the nut from turning just enough so you can back the bolt out. Worked on mine. While you've got the tail apart change the trans' rear oil seal since you don't want to ever do this job again from under the truck :P
