Weird Timing Problem

what about the 10 cent roll pin that holds the gear to the shaft any play with that if its loose it could change things?

From: in the springs
the shear pin rarely gets loose it is typically in one piece doing its job or broken. if broken it is highly unlikely the truck would run at all.

Final Update:

Put in the new dizzy & plug wires (just for good measure) and fired her up....

Sounds Beautiful. Vibrations are gone, thanks for all the info and suggestions.
