How much $$$$ ?

When I got my 64, the previous guy had big plans to drop in a 390 with auto trans. I don't plan to use this engine or trans. Reportedly it was running when taken out of a truck. My guess is it would have to be taken apart and see just what kind of shape its in. What would be a reasonable price to ask since I know so little about this engine and trans. I realy just want to get it off my engine hoist and off my back porch.
Engine has alternator, carb, distributor, power sterring pump, came with AC compressor(not currently on engine but I have it). One of the enhaust logs has crack. Transmission has fill tube and torque converter with it.
***not trying to sell it on this forum, just wanting info***

thanks

You could get $300 for the engine and $150 for the transmission if you want it gone in a few days. The reason so cheap is that you can't say for certain that it is in good shape.

Your post is OK for the forum, all offers to buy should be emailed directly to you and not posted, so I hope your email feature is turned on.

Since you don't know anything about the engine/tranny, I suggest selling them a needing rebuild. Should they turnout to be in good condition the buyer would be happy.

Hope you move them quickly.

John

Take this for what it's worth, as I would normaly be intrested in the motor, but to avoid being deleted, I'll pretend I'm not. The motor should be treated as a core. it might work, it might not. $300 is pretty fair for a motor that would be a gamble.

The Transmission is another matter. if it's a C6, you might get 300 to 500 out of it. C4 or FMX would be worth closer to the $150 mark for an unknown condition trans. the torque converter is esentualy worthless. No point putting a wear part into a truck if you don't know it's condition, but someone might still want it as an extra with the trans.

$300 is more than I thought it was worth. Thanks for the info guys. I will have to look at my personal settings regarding the e-mail feature. My PM feature has worked in the past. I will take some pics and post it to the sale forum sometime this weekend.
