My auto lock device, does not lock the rear hatch doors. only the passenger doors... Is this a broken, or is there a trip/trick for this to work?
Mine was doing the same thing last winter. Could be either the actuator, the rod assembly that connects the actuator to the latch, or the actual latch.
If you stand by the rear hatch and can hear the actuator "thumping" as you press the remote lock/unlock button then most likely the actuator is fine. Your latch may be binding or the rod popped of. If it is really hard to tun the lock with the key then the rod is proably still attacthed but the latch is binding. If it's easy to turn then the rod probably came loose.
My latch was binding. I fixed my latch by pulling the rear trim off the inside of the hatch and then applying a liberal amount of lithium grease to the latch mechanism. Some people have done the same with wd 40. Has worked ever since.
I know when my kids shut the rear hatch they more often than not neglect to shut it completely. They will latch togther even of the first door is not shut completely. The door open light does not come on. Just something to check before digging into the electrical.
