First of all,I had a fire underhood in my 79 f-150.The dist.was a ball of flames and I luckily got it put out before anything but the cap and wires burned up.After putting another dist.,cap and wires in her,I found the coil is getting almost 11 volts.Where is the resistor?
The resistor is the wiring. They put a length of special resistance wire in the harness to drop the voltage. You can go to the store and buy a large white resistor for a Chrysler that seems to work pretty good.
Make sure you are measuring the voltage with the engine running. If the engine is not running, then there will be no current flow through the circuit. With no current flow through the resistor or resistance wire, there will be no voltage drop.
