its a 400m with a t-18 trans and an np205 transfer with 4:10 gears factory with dana 60 rear and a 44 front, i'd like to put 35's on it, i had a set of humveee tires on it, they're 36x12.50x16.5 they fit but the goddamn rear suspension didnt have much clearance, the fronts worked great, but the wheels hit the calipar brackets, so i gave em back to the guy that give em to me, as for the hammer lift idea, dont wanna hafta do that to it, aint that about the same as heatin the springs, i mean kinda a ****** way to do it
hey alvin read the goddamn thing, it says what gears are in the damn thing
And ya go right ahead and try and spank him... since hes 7 years younger than your son... But I think the govertment will have a say in you trying to whoop up on a US Soldier :P
Anyways, thanks for all the replies and suggestions on lifts... I'll prob be buying one also for a truck soon and was curious myself.
I just bought a 4" kit from rough country to fit on a 79 f-250. So far, the kit fits well, everything was there, and no problems noted. I do not have the back springs on yet, but don't foresee any problems other than the pita removing the old stuff.
My truck came with some makeshift kit on it already that raised the truck up in the air about 6" and would bind the front driveshaft, so I decided to buy something little more conservative so I could actually use my front axel.
Hey, he asked what lift I'd done that I was happy with.
And I'm really happy with it in my little retired-hick-world kinda way.
Sorry about all the crap, guys. I'm brand new to website forums using windows. I'm used to newsgroups using unix/tin&pico.
I'm trying to play nice on here where it's moderated, really I am.

You paid for less lift? :/
I coulda gave you a stack of VW gears for free.
And since I have two transaxles apart (that are alike) they would have been a matched set too.
Now all those extra gears are settin there going to waste. :/
Some people would rather pay for a quality product, that has a warranty, and a safety issue might be involved with your idea also.
NOt saying it won't work, but I personally dont like risking my life by going the cheap way... whether its a proven way of things working or not.
I had a 66 F-100 that someone bent the crap out of the leafs on the rear to lower it... looked great but I felt unsafe with it and found another set of springs
I have a 77 highboy and put 35's on mine today. Plenty of rooma and look much better than the 32's I had on it before. I didn't know if they would clear but I have tons of room
[QUOTE=Alvin in AZ]You paid for less lift? /QUOTE]
Why yes I did. As it was, the 4 wheel drive would not work. Whoever owned it before me threw some crap together to raise it and in the process they busted the 4 wheel drive out of it.
So,....I'm bringing the truck down to a more workable level that doesn't bind my front driveshaft and bust front axel parts.
77 F-150 4x4 short bed, just put new 1 1/2" coils in the front, and now have 255/85-16s on 16x8 DC-1s, they are a 32.5" tire, by about 9", super fit and look. Nothing to the rear, just needed to get the front up, really saggin. New shocks, C-bushings, track-arm bushings, and radius arm bushings, fingers still hurt. Pics coming soon
