I have an 06 F350 and when I go over bumps I get a clunk sound from the driver side rear end(like something hitting). I took it to the dealership when I first bought the truck and they told me it was just the overload springs contacting the stops. Any other 350 I have rode in does not make the noise. Can you guys suggest anything It really is starting to annoy me. thanks.
They could be right. Try wrapping some type of dampening device (a section of an old rubber inner tube, etc.) around the stop and see if this has an effect. Is the truck brand-new? If not, it may have an 'after market' overload spring which may indeed be causing this.
You can also try the "Search This Forum" function located just below the page number index on the main 'Super Duty And Heavy Duty' forum page. Type in "clunk" and be prepared to do some reading. Maybe somebody has had the same problem here. Good luck.
After my truck bed was sprayed with Line-X, I heard a 'bump' coming from the rear of my truck. Turned out they didn't fully tighten one of the bed bolts, it was the bed 'bumping' off the frame.
