According to the forecast it looks like we will be having a wet weekend in the Madhappiness area. I had planned on doing some truck repair, but if it rains too much I may have to change plans because some of it is outside. I'm putting a different engine in the Bronco. It's been quiet here at the Kansas chapter the last week. What is everyone else doing?
It looks like we had about 2" of rain last night and looking at the radar on TV, it appears that we will continue to get showers for a while this morning. I'm off to the parts store to feed my addiction.
I put MG (Mean Green) back together yesterday before it rained. On it's first 4x4 trip the front end was making noise. Hope it was the lock outs because that's what i replaced. I didn't like the way the front end looked. I bought it back east and the rust is flaking off the rotors, steering knuckles and the front axle shafts. Wheel bearings and rotors should have been replaced but I cleaned them well in the parts washer. Then used brake parts cleaner and clean rags to get them 100% spot less. Packed the bearings with great Valvoline red greese and put it together. It was working on the street before so maybe I can get a few more miles from it. If it's still making noise in 4 wheel then I get to take the front third member out.
If there is a break in the rain long enough for my drive way to dry out I need to change the tranny and t-case fluid and change the oil.
Well, I gotta go to the salvage yard and pull a motor out of a crown vic then bring it to the house, pull the motor outta this t-brid and replace with the crown vic motor. The torch a sway bar end link off a 2000 exploder and replace with a new end link. Diagnose a no charge on a olds cutlass, change the oil and fuel filters in hoss and replace the right tie rod end, fix the door locks on mama's exploder. Oh yeah, I gotta go to work too lol
I'm slow and that's just a 15 minute job for me. An extra 5 because I'm slow and another five for extra jack time so I can get under the thing.
Now if you add in the prep time of actually going and getting the part and get the tools out and the motivation thing...............well MG has been on jack stands for over a week to change tranny, t-case and engine oil and it's still out there waiting. Course I did pull the front wheels off and trash to auto hubs, clean everything and pack wheel bearing and install new seals and Warn lock outs. Maybe I'll actually get out and get engine oil and a filter tomorrow.
I haven't even touched my 79 in over a year! I have been so busy with school and helping my fiancee with her daughters wedding plans which is finally over as of this past Sat.
