Who'd win

1990 Full size Jimmy with 5.7 VS. my 97 F150 Scab shortbed 4.6. My buddy says that his 5.7 can stomp all over my 4.6 any time. I am thinking that I'll smoke him. I was able to keep up with a 99 silverado 2500 up a hill in my truck.

He has the weight advantage but I'd say you have the power advantage considering his is not the vortec 350, the only way to find out really is to line 'em up and let er rip. If it means anything to you my 5.4l has dined on 350 chevs (no mods really for sure) and they are quite the treat....but a 5.3l chev is whole nother animal, they can be pretty quick.

My 89 f 150 with a 302 5 speed can beat most stock chevy 350's. And I know my 4.6 liter is a little faster then that. I say the weight would be almost equal between the two of them. Im a ford guy so I will say ford, but I also say line em up!

Another thing he said about my truck is that were his goes in two wheel mine has to go in 4 wheel. I'll say he has one advantage better tires. I don't know if I would race him. I just wanted to see who you guys think would win. My truck has no mods except for a drop in K&N filter, wich I don't think it gives a lot of power. I know he has the advantage on weight. I know that the chevy V6's and V8's in the early 90's had throttle (cough) body injection.

If you raced him in 4x4, you would really take him off the line. I have launched my truck really deadly in 4x4 before!

I haven't really raced my 98 F150 4.6L against anyone yet. I sorta of played around with my friends 4.7L 2001 Durango, pretty much neck and neck on every launch, just depended on who hit the gas first from the light. I have raced my 2004 Explorer 4.0L against his Durango and put about a car/suv length on him in about an 1/8 mile. Also, raced against my other buddy who has a 2002 S15 with the 4.3L with my Explorer and creamed him. I think those 4.3L are dogs. I haven't raced him with the F150, probably won't either, just because he was a poor sport about losing. He's a big Chevy fan and doesn't like to get beat, especially by a Ford, also especially with all Ford guys around at the time, LOL! As for those 2002+ Silverados with the 5.3L, yes, they are quick and don't intend on lining up against one anytime soon. Yeah, I'll give Chevy thumbs up on that engine.
