I'm not too concerned with the legal stuff... I think most officers have bigger fish to fry... Plus the 5% tint all over my truck, and the HID headlights will draw their attention away from the simple stock foglights, haha!

i live near willow grove, pa. i also have my state inspection license, for tractor trailers. yes, the fogs must turn off when the high beams are activated. they can be on with the park lights, or by themselves.

Has anyone found the "simple" solution to the fog light fix? I pulled my switch and looked at the wiring, did a little test light sampling and found the parking lights and fog light leads, but did not jump them. I was concerned (as mentioned) that jumping them would render the fog light switch inoperable and the fogs would come on with the parking lights, reguardless of fog switch position (in or out) - that's not what I want.

AWESOME link!

Thank you!

Now I just need to check and make sure that 2005 is the same...
...if it is (light green/black wire) That is my next Mod!

Thanks again!

I downloaded the instructions suggested above and tore into mine yesterday. On the back of the fuse panel on my 01, there was no lite green with a black tracer. Only a black in pin 13. That is what to look for. My lite switch pulls out in the park position but there are no pins activated when you pull the switch. I can't for the life of me figure out why the switch has the position but know function unless it applies a ground to one of the pins, I didn't check for that. If so jumping a relay in there would be simple. I'll be back!!!!

Question Fog lites

Well, I have an 01 and as the instructions say, It is not one you can fix. I pulled the fuse panel out to look at my pin 13 and shure enough it is a black wire and not green with black tracer stripe. I pulled the swith out to look and the yellow wire is hot only with headlights on. In the park w/fog on there are no active wires to signal the fog lights. So short of a serarate switch which I'm looking into, a small neon lit button, I don't know where this is going. I'm open for ideas!!

It is fine for that year as well. They also kept in '06 & '07 on the F 250.

Thumbs up Did It!

I did it.

SUPER easy and fast, and really needed. I drive at night off-road, in the desert and all over baja a LOT...and was VERY frustrated at the stupid stock arrangement where the foglights cut out with high beams on .

I used a very simple approach, my EE dad would be rolling in his grave...perhaps...since he used to say the cheapest/fastest/easiest way to engineer something was the best...

I did this:

<IMG SRC="http://www.martialartsacademy.org/ex%20mod%20harness.JPG">

Located and cut #13, then used a solderless in-line splice to attach a length of 12 guage black wire, secured it with a red tie-wrap and fed it over to the grounding screws.

THEN...
<IMG SRC="http://www.martialartsacademy.org/ex%20mod%20ground.JPG">

Located the smallest diameter of the three grounding wires and spliced in my new wire with another identical in-line solderless unit.

DONE!

Took about 5 minutes...maybe... and only used wire cutters and pliers.

Since FORD itself has several identical crimp-on connectors installed from the factory under there, I figure mine are OK as well .

Thanks again, Tim, for the link to awesome article by Chris...what a fabulous bit of info to make such a huge perfomance mod with near-zero effort.

thank you thank you thank you...

You're welcome!

It really does make a BIG difference running brights/fogs at the same time...
...especially when the fogs are up graded to uber-bright silver-stars

Quiteman,
Do you have the automatic headlight "on -off" option on your EB?
Do you think your mod will work on 05 Limited EX 6.0 with the light on/off option ?
Thanks.
BTW: super job on the mod...

Yes.

Yes, I have a 2005 EX 6.0 with every Limited option, but with the EB color inside and out.

I have tested the function of the fogs/low/high etc using the "auto" setting and it works perfectly- you will have no problem.

Thanks.
BTW: super job on the mod..

You are welcome, I wish I had done it many desert/baja trips ago, it makes a HUGE difference...

Is there a way to run both high and low beams at the same time. If you pull back on the lever to activate the high beams you have to hold it back, but it activates both high, and low. If you push it foward to activate the high beams is stays in position but dose not allow the low beams to stay on.
