Question Cam queston

I have a 2 part queston. I have ben doing a lot of reading on cams for my never ending motorhome engin project. Especialey since the temps have ben over 100 and I don't have ac or shade tree. I guess I can't be called a "shade tree mecanic".

I have a Edelbrock performer-plus with 194/204duration and.460/.480 lift.

I found a Voodoo "Lunati" that is 207/213 Duration and .503/.535 lift.

both cams clame to be for the idle to 5000 rpm range.

The first thing is will the Voodoo give enough inprovment in torque to be worth using over the Edelbrock?

Can I use the stock style Edelbrock springes I have with the Voodoo cam?

I have a set of Harland Sharp roller rockers I am planing on using. I had the heads reworked for 2.190 intake and 1.760 exaust valves. I wonder about valve piston clearnce problems latter.
Thanks for your help.
Bill

Well to be honest more info is needed about the block build up. What did you have done to it? The cams you referenced wont have any issue if you have stock pistons. Cam performance is determined by a multitude of factors. I can take any # of parts and put them on the engine and see little to nothing unless the lower end and heads were taken care of first. You did say the valves were upgraded, but what about the ports themselves? Also what year engine do you have?

Hi airharley,
Well the block is the next big queston. I know the goal on this one is to keep the compreson down so I can run 87 octane reg. I know this soundes bad to the high performance gang but that is what the goal is. This will be a high torque low rpm aplication. This is being bilt as a1986/87 CARB engine using a D9TE BLOCK. The heads are D3OE AB heads.
I have a Edelbrock performer intake and a Edelbrock 750 carb Msd 6 box and MSD distrib.
The heads are going to have some port work especaley on the exaust sideand port matched to the Thorley try y headers.
I have 2 blocks both with ishues. block #1 has gas cutting between all the cylenders on the left bank. I think I can clean that up by milling it to near 0 deck. I am wondering how much can be taken off before you need to do some milling on the heads so the intake lines up? This short block has less than 1000 miles on it and is .040 over, it has dish pistons but I haven't goten it out and haven't cced them to know how much dish they have. if I cant use this block I was going to try and use the pistons in the outher block #2 has some piting in a couple of cylenders and will have to be bored.
I have ben slow making progresas it has ben verrey hot it was 105 when I got home today.
Thanks
Bill
