EFI throttle cable stop screw
1990 5.8. I would like to know if the throttle cable stop screw can be used to make -minor- adjustments to the idle speed. I'm talking about an adjustment of around 50rpm. The screw is on top of the TB and it is just a place for the throttle to rest on at idle. I am not talking about any screws on the blades or other things. Just that stop screw. And, if I do a minor adjustment to it will the computer just raise it back anyway? I don't want to be fighting the computer.

what is exactly happening. the idle screw should not be moved and yes computer may try to adjust. if your idle is fluctuating its possible you have a vacume leak so check all of your lines. might also pull codes or run some seafoam thru the brake booster line

It's not fluctuating but I think that it is a little bit too high. I'd prefer it about 50rpm less.
There are no codes, I just replaced the TPS and that was the only code, cleared that one and all is well.

massey is correct. go to www.fordfuelinjection.com should have instructions on how to get the tps is the right range.
