I've finally had time to finish rebuilding my engine. I also rebuilt the c6 tranny. When I pulled it I pulled them both together and I didn't care where I hooked on because I was going to work on it. My question is, would it be easier to replace them back in together, or one at a time. I don't want to stress the new gaskets and joints in the removable parts of the engine when lifting. I'm thinking that it may be more time consuming to put the engine in first but it would be better on the engine. and where is the best place hook the chain? Your thoughts are welcome.
While it may be a bit too late to answer now it'd probably be easier to put them both back in as one whole peice than to split them up. Also it would prevent you from having to crawl underneath and re-bolt the bellhousing, which i've found is kind of a PITA. TGood luck with it!
i agree with desperado it will save a lot of time if its carbed i would take out the back intake/exhaust bolt and hook a chain there and around the powere steering bracket.thats where i hook mine up
Yep, did the same same, take manifolds off, chain to #6 cyl in back and pwr steering pump bolt hole on front. It is a whole LOT easier if you can find a load leveler, bar with crank, to adjust once you are up, and going down in. Make sure you have high-grade bolts, don't leave any extra bolt sticking out, if it is too long, get a shorter one. Note to self, if you have headers, read instructions, handy piece of information to have, remove starter, THEN install headers, once headers are halfway in, THEN re-install starter. Saves an hour or so of @#$%^&* and leaves more time to drink a beer when yer done!
