Ok, I have a 84 F-150. The front end is out and have been looking for a replacement. I had planned on doing a SAS but currently just need a quick cheap swap. I came across a 1980 F-350 D50. Are they direct bolt ins? If not, what needs done to get it under the truck?

A Dana 50 isn't all that much beefier than a Dana 44. Besides, a Dana 50 is leaf sprung while your truck is coil sprung. Save yourself a headache and find a Dana 44 TTB if you need a quick easy swap, less fab work involved that way.

A D50 is pretty much a D44 center section with D60 outer ends. If you were to convert it to 5 lug you would just be making another D44, but with a lot of extra fab work to change it from leaf to coil sprung. It's not worth it.
