Droppin the pan

I want to drop the pan on a 93 crown vic but i don't want to pull the engine yet. is there room to lift the engine? i looked at it today and it looks like i might have to pull it. i'm pretty sure the car has a bad wrist pin but i dont want to pull the engine till i find out for sure whats wrong. I'm hoping someone has done it before and has a few tips. thanks

forgot to say its got a 4.6L, and its an old cop car.
