DP chip vs. Superchips Microtuner

I installed my DP chip yesterday. It does not seem to be as strong on 80hp tow as my tuner is on 90hp setting. It also seems to smoke more with the chip vs the tuner. The egt seems to be less with chip, however, I have not towed with the chip in yet. My truck is an 03', 7.3 CC, LB, 4x4. Does anyone have any experience with both? Later, Jonathan

As I understand it (I have never run a SuperChip) the superchip is very touchy off idle and at like half thottle is no different than WOT. The 80 econo is very smooth and linear from start to WOT. That may be why it doesn't feel much different. Also if the HPOP isn't keeping up, the 80 hp will not pull as it should. The difference is, the Superchip asks for more timing for power and the DP asks for more fuel which is safer for the engine. It could also that his particular truck just liked the Superchip better. Every truck is a little different. I suspect that there is something significantly different with this truck though, as like stated above, this is the first post I have ever read that didn't say the DP blew away the Superchip. More information would be intresting.

I am sure Jody would like to hear this information as well. He might have some things for bartender to check on his truck.

Don't know about you, but I spend most of my time on the butt dyno.

Yeah I do too unfortunately, I just said that to be funny .

I'd like to hit up a real dyno, but everywhere locally has an entrance too low for my truck to even get in..

I installed my DP digital dispaly last night and can really see a big difference over the superchips tunner. Shifting is much cleaner and power is awesome.

I also have a superchips that I took out and when I put my edge juice/attitude in I was disappointed. The superchips would smoke the edge.

hmmm... does anyone find it ironic that the 80 doesn't feel as strong as the 90 and people find it out of the ordinary?

Perhaps I was expecting to much. But to listen to people talk about flip chips on this site and others, I was hoping for much improved performance. If I could do it all over again, I would stick with my tuner. In fact, if someone wants a 16 position chip at $50 bucks off regular price I may have one for sale. It has stock, 60 tow, 80 tow, 80 eco and 120 race. Later, Jonathan
