Diesel problems

I have a 2005 E-450 with the 6.0 in it. I know when they first had these engines they were having problems with it. I have had nothing but problems with the vehicle. It has had a new turbo and several new injectors. It has died on the side of the road twice. So far things that Ford tell me is normal is a constant whistling from the engine at idle (which i'm pretty sure is not from the turbo), the fan constantly locks up, and the entire "clunks" when you come to a stop.
I also have a 2002 F-350 with a 7.3, and have had no trouble out of it whatsoever. Honestly, in my opinion, these are the worst diesels that Ford has ever produced. If anyone can give me some feedbac on if they have had problems similar to this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

yea, i would be mad also, i would get rid of the E-450 and get something else right away before more problems arise. or maybe get ford to buy it back or something like that.

Talking Problems

I don't know the laws in your state but check them out. In mine, three times in for the same problem = a new truck. Lemon law. A Ford dealer that has a medium duty shop also could be help. My closest dealer has a 20yr old diesel tech. If its not in the book, it must be ok.

Question:

If you're not getting any satisfaction out of your Ford dealer working on your 6.0, would it not be possible to take it down to an International/Navstar mechanic and have THEM work on it? I mean, International built the thing, they ought to know how to fix it, shouldn't they?

I just spoke with an International dealer at lunch because of the problems I'm having, which noone has responded to. Anyways, they told me that they can't work on the Ford Powerstroke because Ford has a captured computer system & they can't get in.

Some lady that works for FORD paid one of my monthly payments and gave me an extened warranty which you can't get on the big superduty trucks. I use this truck everyday to work out of, and I can't afford for it to keep messing up. I'm already using it close to it's weight limit, and so far the entire truck just can't seem to handle it. So right now I'm looking at getting a Freightliner truck, because what I put in the truck stays in there all the time.

mrsvt99...extended warranties are available on SD trucks (at least on my F250), and on the PSD as well. I got the 7yr./100k extended warranty.

I have the extended warrenty on my 06 6.0 Extened Cab 4x4 PSD also. As expensive as diesels are to fix, I figured it was better safe than sorry.

i meant that the only thing that's covered in the 450's after 36,000 miles is only the engine and nothing else, but the person at FORD went ahead and gave me a powertrain warranty. Another thing that I was curious about was if anyone else is having this much trouble out of their 6.0, or any similar problems?
