transfer case what kind do I have???

I have been chasing down a speedometer problem for a year now and I think I have found the problem. The gear that runs the speedo cable moves on the shaft inside the t-case. I can pull the speedo cable out and put my finger in the hole and move the gear back and forth 3 quarters of a inch or so. I asume it isnt suppost to move. Anyway depending on the way you move it depends on weather or not the speedometer works or not. What my speedo has been doing in the past is when you first start the thing works fine but after 3 or 4 miles it gradually goes to 0. I need to know what kind of t-case I have to be able to try and fix this problem. My t-case came out of a 86 bronco 302 fuel injected.thanks for the help. scott

More than likely you have an NP208 t-case. Bronco's and F-150's came with them from 1980 on up to 1996 I believe.

THe New Process 208 is most common for the 86, but it could be a Borg-Warner 13-45. Check the t-case for any ID tags of logos. The NP "sun" logo is hard to miss, unless it's covered with dirt. The NP case will be mostly smooth, while the B-W case has alot of ribs or raised lines. JSM84

The 1345's were mostly in 3/4 ton's and the 1356 was in the 1 ton's.
