I thought the v-10 was no longer going to be sold in CA in anything except a F-350 and above. But when i went truck shopping i found three 2007 F-250 4x2 Crewcab XLT trucks with the v10. So has ford found a way to make it meet CA emissions? Why would these trucks be on the lots if they can't be sold? Under the hood it says meets all emmisions requirements for both federal and california emissions applicable to the date of manufacture. The trucks were made between 7/16/06 and 7/22/06.
I didn't even think of the egr valve. I can look again when i test drive one of them. The one i did test drive was great , the 362 HP was fun and the 4.30 gear just made it an animal and for only a 600.00 upgrade its a steal.
This egr thing keeps getting kicked around. Is it a bad thing? I mean it has been around for a long time right?
Oh, there's absolutely NO problem with it (unlike the 6.0's).
The problem is, before 2007, the "heavy-duty truck engine" V10 didn't need one for most areas. Now, CA emissions REQUIRES an EGR valve on heavy-duty truck engines.
For whatever reason, for 2007, it appears Ford didn't bother putting an EGR on the 3-valver, so it can't be sold in CA-emissions states.
Are you absolutely sure they were '07 models? F-250's?
I've been told I cannot get one (F-250 V10) in New York and that I'd have to step it up to an F-350.
Please update us, I'd like to know what dealer they are at so I can look up the VIN's on their website and look at window stickers to see if they list "California Emissions" or "50-State Emissions"
1) The V10 is not available with CA/NY emissions in a F250. Period.
2) It's also not available in a F350 with the "optional" 10,000 lb GVWR Pkg unless combined with Federal emissions.
In other words- no V10 with 10,000 lb or less GVW.
I'm running a locate right now to see if I can find it.
I emailed Keith and Eric an invoice to that truck. This is interesting- it is in stock at the dealership in Cali, and it definitely doesn NOT have Cali OR 50 state emissions on it. Locator only shows the one truck. i wonder if it was a cancelled sold order?
Which brings to mind another question- that thing's not legal to sell down there. DMV will catch it through the VIN if they do.
