I have been looking at controllers for my newly acquired truck.
I have a Jordan Ultima in my other truck and have used it for around 20k miles of towing.
The Tekonsha Prodigy seems to be very popular here.
What makes it so much better?
The Ultima has been very good.
Just trying to see what I'm missing.
Before when I was looking it seemed to be 50/50 Ultima-Prodigy.
ANDDDD Since the Prodigy is cheaper now I'm really wondering LOL.
The Prodigy costs less and is easier to install since I believe you have to install a cable to the brake pedal correct? But just like Casey said the Prodigy is almost as good but most ratings have the Jordan rated a little higher.
I have the Brakesmart and I love it. It connects to the hydraulic system and gives good proportional braking. Unfortunately these controllers are now over $400. I have used the Jordan and it worked good but it can be a pain to install in some vehicles (Chevy van sucks). I've never used a prodigy but from all I've read it seems to be the best compromise between capability and cost.
I have the prodigy, all I had to do was plug it into the factory wire harness under the dash. I like the digital display and the idoit light that shows when the trailer is hooked up. That way I can't forget to hook the cable up. Plus, if the cable ever comes loose or disconnects you will know before finding out when you have to hit the brakes!
White Buffalo-Plug and play is good.
I was tempted to buy it (Prodigy) but have had such good luck with my jordan that I couldn't bring myself to buy something else LOL.
She's in and working good.
Thanks for the replies.
Cool KO, there both great products. You can't go wrong with either of them. Go with what you are comfortable with and have had good experience with in the past.
