i have a 75 f150 off roader and i have 2 1/4" dual to thrush turbo out behind the tires and i am thinking of changing and going to either headers and dumping it after glasspacks or running headers to a flowmaster super 40 then straight out with a flame kit. input would help and if anyone knows what headers would help thanks
I'd suggest 2.25 or 2.5 dual to glasspacks dumped for loud.
Loud with flames: 2.25 dual glasspacks, straight pipes to the back with flame kit.
The Flowmaster will make it a little quieter but provide the "Flowmaster sound" if that's what you want. That being said if it gets banged up off-roading, it's a lot more expensive to fix than glasspacks.
ya the glasspacks would be cheaper and provide that thump, that sound i want and i was wondering do you think they will be able to change it from behind the tires to straight out for cheap. do you have an idea of what glasspack sounds right your idea of loud and proud is great.
What engine? Try running through www.exhaustsoundclips.com they have a great selection of sound clips from all kinds of exhausts on all kinds of engines.
Cutting the stock muffler(s) off and running it straight out with glasspacks would be about the cheapest exhaust you could do. Especially if you can do the fabricating yourself.
I have a fe 360 with dual exhaust from the manifold out behind the tires. the mufflers are mid-rear drive shaft i put a 3" body lift so i can tuck my exhaust all higer now if i can find the headers i will put them in my self. the shop in town wants 65 an hour to install them and they said it takes about 2hrs so i will do it myself
It shouldn't be hard at all with the lift, you could virtually run a straight line to the rear. Just be careful with the headers, LOTS of penetrating oil is your friend.
I have FlowMaster long-tube headers followed by 33" Thrush Glaspaks. I wanted mellow/ deep w/o loud. 2 1/4" tube is stock. Larger tube will help top end and drop a bit of torque. LARGER tips will deepen the tone. Exiting in front of the rear wheels will increase the volume a bit. If noise and attention is what U want, use 3" straight back w/o mufflers.
do you have a 360??? do those thrush glasspacks deliever that deep sound with out the rampage of straight piping it?? and how much did they run?? do they last??
