Thumbs up Just got my chip

I just got my chip in the mail today!!
My question is: are there any things that I should take care of before installing it? Do I need to be grounded when I install it? I work on airplanes and when they mess with the circut boards in there they are grouned to the aircraft. Do I need to do the same so I dont mess it up?
Where have some of you guys mounted your switch at? Is this a pretty easy install?
Thanks for the help and info!

Just make sure you don't have the key in the ignition when messing with the pcm or chip and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys.
I'll make sure the keys aren't in the ignition!
Thanks for the pic, that looks like a good position since I'm right handed.
Now off I go!!

Got a few questions:
Do I need to remove the computer? How do I remove it if I need to? I already got the emergency brake removed. Where do I go from here?

My computer code is BEG8 and he sent me MLE1 which is for a '97 manual according to steve bazs codes. Does this sound right or should I send it back for a correct one?

97 F350 do you remember what your code was?

Thanks for the help!

mle1 is correct. its the most up to date for a 97. its what you want in there. now that you got the ebrake pulled out. go in the engine comp. pull the wiring harness of the pcm 10mm. pull inner fender well bolts out. push down on inner fender and pull pcm out. once you got it out take it apart. clean both sides of contacts really good. reinstall. then put on chip.

what chip ya got?

What color are the tabs where the chip connects supposed to be?
Are they copper or silver?

its been a while. i wanna say silver and then if you go to deep they are copper. or the other way around. just take a little flat tip and scrape until all that coating is off. dont scrape to hard. its a tedious process!

Thanks again man!

Holly smokes batman!! That 140 setting is smokey, aint it?

What setting do you get best ecconomy? Compared to the superchips 1700 programmer this chip wins hands down.

Thanks for the help again fellas!!!

i dont like everyone knowing i have a chip, i like the surprise effect. i found a small plastic lip on the underside of my dash towards the bottom. it's hidden very well but at the same time incredibly accessible! i dont much care for the 140 setting so i plan to have that program removed and i want the no-start position. this should help a lil bit with theft, or at least eliminate my friends messin with my truck!
