Working on a 68 302 and want to make sure the adjustment is good. I know (for each cylinder) the valves need to be closed on the compression stroke, but is it a 1/2 turn after taking out the pushrod movement/spin?
"On V8 260, 289, and 302, to minimize the possibility of burnt valves the sevice procedure has been revised as follows: When the pushrod and rocker arm clearance has been eliminated , tighten the rocker arm stud nut an additional 3/4 turn. The previous procedure required an additional 1 1/2 turns"
What I do, is spin the the pushrod with my free hand as I tighten untill it doesn't turn very easily, (requiring some effort) and then an additional 3/4 turn.
