I am trying to install my new BB turbo and I have a problem getting the orange intake boots to line up with the manifold. Everything else is secured and there seems to be no play in any of the other connections.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
that is odd. are you sure that the compressor manifold that bolts to the outlet of the compressor (the 5-way thing) is in the groove and is seated correctly so the marmon clamp fits over? can you take a few pics? maybe there is something i can spot out real easy that will give something away to you.
Thanks for the reply. It is seated correctly (I hope). I was having trouble with that at first but a little push up on the bottom got it to line up properly. Before I had it lined up the manifold was sitting in the orange boots just fine.
It looks like the turbo is angled up a few degrees. Just enough to make things difficult. I stopped working on it for the night and will check it out tommorow. I will try to get some pics up for you to look at.
Well I took off the turbo and readjusted everything and when I went to put the intake manifold on, it still did not line up. I think that I will just re-adjust the orange boots. Let me know what you think. I just got called into work, so I will not be working on this for a few hours. Thanks again.
looking at your pics, the compressor housing appears to be a few degrees too high, i remember when i installed my bb turbo, everything lined up properly, i poped my hood just to double check it looks ok.
looking at the way the compressor housing attaches to the turbo with bolts and a plate plate washer, it should be able to be loosened and rotated to the correct posistion. the only problem is i do not know how that housing is sealed o-ring like stock turbo, or some sort of sealent.
i'm thinking that during assembly, the compressor housing was not installed at the correct angle.
before tearing into it, i would contact who you bought it from, or garrett directly to see if it is something you can correct yourself. mho

I was thinking the same thing while I was at work. I will be contacting garrett directly. Thanks for everyone's help.
Are the boot clamps loose on the intake side? It looks like all you need is to slide the boots up 1/4" onto the manifold.
I did not loosen the boots on the intake side of the motor just on the manifold that I removed. I was thinking that if I could not rotate the housing, I would just slide the boots up and see if that will solve the problem.
First of all thanks for everyone's help. While I was looking for my recipt so I could call the distributor I found a small instruction sheet that informed me on how to adjust the turbo outlet. So everything fits perfect and I am a happy camper! Thanks again!
